I come across this question more times than I could count.
“What am I good at?”
On the surface, it’s a great question to ask.
Deeper down, you’re usually asking the wrong person.
You see, the only person that can answer that question is YOU.
We are all born with a gift to discover about ourselves.
Some people are born with superior strength.
Others are born with superior intelligence, tenacity or even beauty.
It’s just how it is and there’s not a single reason to get upset about it…
Though, there is a reason to exploit it.
Whatever you are born to do, you should do!
If you were born with superior strength: Consider becoming a powerlifter.
If you were born with intelligence: Cultivate your knowledge to help yourself & others.
You get the idea.
The problem nowadays is people get stuck doing things they aren’t talented at.
They waste this natural talent doing things they are not talented at. (Like working a hard job)
Hard work can only get you so far.
If you don’t do what you were born to do, you will not become a success.
Life’s a struggle when you do something that is against your nature and natural abilities.
You need to figure out what you’re good at.
It’s an area you excel in.
If you don’t know what you’re good at, you haven’t found it yet.
So keep searching.
- Try a new sport.
- Participate in a new hobby.
- Explore a new topic.
- Create solutions for yourself.
- Try the Steak & Eggs Diet.
It starts off small though; so be patient with yourself.
The first day I went to the gym, I didn’t know I’d become a health fanatic.
Once I got in shape, people started asking: “How did you do it?”
Take note of what others say about you and ask you.
You will have people tell you:
- You would make a good artist.
- Why don’t you become an engineer?
- You’re in great shape!
If you’re good with art, tap into your creativity and create art!
If you’re good at engineering things, engineer something the solves a problem and sell the solution.
If you’re in great shape, offer advice on how to build the body that others dream of.
You need to cultivate your strengths to find out what you are good at.
A good starting point would be to ask yourself:
“What do I like?”
From there, incorporate what you like into your life.
Dive deeper and explore the topic.
Once you get good at what you like to do…
… you might just get paid to do it.
This is the ultimate goal.
Ensure you become good at the right things though.
I know people who are good at pounding fifths of vodka every weekend.
Pounding fifths of vodka won’t pay the bills or excel your life in any way.
It’s only good for getting liver cirrhosis.
To make sure you pick the right thing to be good at, it should:
- Be of value to others.
- Be of value to yourself.
For instance, this blog.
It is valuable to me because I can reach out to millions of people to share my thoughts and experiences.
It is valuable to others because it can help improve their quality of life.
Deep inside every one of us lies hidden talent.
You need to cultivate it and show the world.
Until Next Time,
